Oxford University – Group Coaching Course 2018

oxfordblueDelighted to say that the 2018 University of Oxford “Group Coaching” course is now open for applications.

The course is running over two consecutive weekends in Oxford – 24/25 Feb 2018 and 03/04 Mar 2018.  The course attracts transferable credits for a Higher Education qualification (Certificate, Diploma or Degree). Classes are in the daytime, from 9:30am to 4:30pm.  There will be an entirely optional evening meal on the second Saturday evening.

Group coaching is a distinctive approach to the development of people and achievement of goals. Most ‘recognised’ coaching takes place in a one-to-one context, but in practice, the coaching of groups happens a lot. The management team, sports groups, work ‘gangs’, boards of trustees, charity volunteers,… The list goes on. It is different from facilitation even though many of the skills will be the same. While some leaders may use it from time-to-time, it isn’t usually seen as integral to the skillset of a leader. As it generally has an outcome and is developmental, it is a very powerful addition to the repertoire of the corporate trainer.

Whatever your interest, this course will look at both the key theoretical themes, and the practical application of group coaching. The teaching style is highly discursive and we shall be reviewing and building on the outputs from the 2017 course; developing the body of knowledge of group coaching as we do so.

We also expect to have some fun in the process!  If you are someone who prefers a more introverted approach to learning, PLEASE do not be put off – you will NOT be put through ‘silly’ games!
